Mrs. George Diamond

Died At Morrison—Buried in Pleasant Hill Cemetery

Lovira D. Pattee was born in Adeline, Ogle Co., Ill., Dec. 11, 1860. When five years of age she came to Iowa with her parents, settling in Franklin county near Faulkner; here she grew to womanhood, and was united in marriage to Geo. W. Diamond in 1879. To this union was born three children, two sons and one daughter, two of whom, Will of Faulkner and Earl of Morrison, Iowa, survive, together with the bereaved husband, five grandchildren, two brothers and a large circle of friends mourn her departure from this life, the little daughter having passed away in infancy.

In 1882 Mr. and Mrs. Diamon [sic] moved to Kimball, South Dakota, where they remained until seven years later when they returned to Faulkner; here they remained until September 1914, when they moved to Morrison in order that she might be near her aged parents and care for them in their declining years, thus leaving for us a beautiful example of filial devotion and self-sacrifice, having given nearly the last six years of her life in ministering to and caring for the comforts and needs of those who were dear to her, and whom she loved, nor did the Heavenly Father call her home until that earthly task was done. These to whom she so long had ministered, and loved, were called to precede her, the mother passing away in September, 1917, and her father following March 15, 1920.

After having laid away the last of her parents, her earthly task seems to have been finished, for soon thereafter she was called to her reward that she so richly deserves.

A true, devoted wife, a loving, sympathetic, self-sacrificing mother, a kind, accommodating neighbor has gone from our midst. She will be missed most by those who knew her best.

Funeral services were held from the church at Faulkner, Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Westfall of the M.E. Church of Ackley. Interment was made in the Pleasant Hill cemetery. A quartet from the Ackley M.E. choir furnished music.
