Mrs. Sarah Pattee died at her home in Morrison on the 8th of September, 1917, her death being caused by the infirmities of old age. She was aged 82 years, 8 months and 3 days.
Miss Sarah Bailey was born at Redding, Vermont, on January 5, 1835 and later came to Illinois, where she taught school at Baileyville and Adeline. In the year 1859 on the 9th day of September she was married to Truman Pattee at Freeport, Illinois, moving to Ackley, Iowa, in 1864. They resided there until 1882 when they moved to Kimball, So. Dak. In the fall of 1894 they moved to Arkansas where they remained until July, 1898, since which time they have resided in Grundy county, Iowa.
To this union six children were born two dying in infancy. Ranson Pattee died August 21, 1898. The three children living are: Mrs. Lovira Diamond and Fred T. Patteeluluoinkqj [sic] mond [sic] and M. C. Pattee, of Morrison, and Fred T. Pattee, Little Rock, Arkansas. She had sixteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was a loving mother and faithful wife.
Funeral services were conducted at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Diamond, Monday afternoon, by Rev. Sinden, pastor of the Congregational church of Reinbeck. Music was furnished by a quartette from Reinbeck. The body was laid to rest in the Morrison cemetery.
In attendance at the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Ole Bailey, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Bailey and Mr. Frank Bailey and two daughters of Cedar Falls, Mrs. Diamond and Mrs. Shatzer of Reinbeck, Mr. Will Diamond of Faulkner, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Diehl and son of Eldora, Iowa, Mrs. Eiler of Ackley, Geo. Williamson and son, of Eldora, Mr. and Mrs. John Williamson of Steamboat Rock, Iowa, Mr. Williamson of Platt, So. Dak., Mrs. Chas. Bailey, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Bailey, Mrs. Jennie Bailey and daughter, Miss Mae, and Mrs. Percy Raymond of Grundy Center and Mrs. Clint Wilkins of Waterloo.
