Services Held For Mrs. Helen Heronimus

Mrs. Helen Heronimus, age 78, of Holland, passed away at 6:56 a.m. Wednesday morning, November 17, 1982 in the Acute Care Unit of the Grundy County Memorial Hospital. She had been a patient there since October 25, 1982.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October[sic] 19, 1982 at Colfax Center Presbyterian Church, rural Holland. Rev. Jerry Van Curler and Dr. J. F. Langenberg officiated the service.

Mrs. Roger Stachour and Mrs. E. D. Halstead sang "Beside Still Waters" and "Be Still My Soul." The congregation sang "Oh God, Our Help In Ages Past." They were accompanied by Mrs. Raymond Hinders, who also played selected numbers for the prelude and postlude.

Casket bearers were Bernard A. Engelkes, Benjamin Heronimus, Dale Weichers, Elmer Muller, C. W. Kruse and Jay Bienfang. Harry Ascher, Herman Akkerman and John Seehusen served as ushers. Mrs. Margaret Meyer, Mrs. Claradeen Harrenstein and Mrs. Arthur Henze were in charge of floral arrangements.

Burial was in Colfax Center Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Relatives and friends were invited to return to the church following committal services for a period of Christian fellowship and refreshment.

Mrs. Heronimus was born on October 18, 1904 in Colfax township, Grundy County, IA, the daughter of John and Rena Meyer Maas. She attained the age of 78 years and 30 days. She grew up around Wellsburg. On March 6, 1929, at Colfax Center Presbyterian Church, she was united in marriage to Tom Heronimus. They lived their entire life in Holland. On October 18, 1980, her husband passed away. After his death she continued living alone in Holland.

She was a long time member of the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, Harold D. Heronimus in 1969, one brother and three sisters.

She is survived by one son, T. J. Heronimus of Grundy Center; two daughters-in-law, Marcia Heronimus of Grundy Center and Thressa Heronimus of Cedar Falls; three grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren.

A memorial fund has been established. The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home, Grundy Center, was in charge of arrangements.
