Heye Heronimus Died Tuesday
Heye Heronimus, who spent nearly all of his life in Grundy county, died Tuesday morning in the Grundy hospital, where he had been a patient for four weeks due to a heart illness. He was 89 years old. The body was taken to the Engelkes funeral home where arrangements were made. Services will be held at 1:30 Thursday afternoon at the Colfax Center Presbyterian church. Burial will be in the cemetery adjoining the church.
Mr. Heronimus was born in Ogle county, Ill. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Poppe Heronimus. He came to Grundy county with his parents during his youth.
He and Alice Franken were married Dec. 6, 1900. The couple farmed in the Holland community for 35 years, after which they moved to Holland where they since resided. After coming to town he worked in the grain elevator in Holland a number of years, after which he retired.
Surviving are his wife and the following children: Mrs. Hazel Abels, Holland; Tom Heronimus, Holland; Mrs. R. R. Hansen, Marshalltown; Paul Heronimus, El Paso, Texas; Mrs. John Paterni, Grundy Center; Mrs. Harold Schoon, Holland; Miss Lillian Heronimus, Rehoboth, New Mex.; Mrs. Alfred Brower, Hampton; George Heronimus, Holland; Mrs. Henry Siefken, Grundy Center; Mrs. DeLoris Bakker, Grundy Center; Mrs. John Itzen, Cedar Falls; also 24 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Ben P. Heronimus, Holland; one sister, Mrs. Irene Wicks, Tampa, Florida; preceded by parents, one son, 3 brothers, 1 sister.
