Mrs. Wm. Heerts Dies Suddenly

Mrs. William Heerts, who made her home in Colfax township 63 years, died very suddenly from a heart attack at her home in Grundy Center at 4:30 Saturday afternoon. She had been in good health up to the time she was stricken, after which death came very shortly. She was 74 years old.

Funeral services were held at the home at one o'clock Wednesday afternoon and later at the Colfax Presbyterian church with Rev. Eekhoff officiating. Burial was by the side of the husband in the cemetery adjoining the church.

Lived in County 71 Years
Mrs. Heerts was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Hook. She was born in Germany. She came to this country and to Colfax township, Grundy county, with her parents when she was 3 years old. She grew up on a Colfax township farm. On March 22nd, 1899, she and William Heerts were married. They established a home on a farm in Colfax township on which the son John now lives. Mr. Heerts died April 23, 1918. His wife continued to make her home on the farm until she moved to Grundy Center in 1945.

Surviving are four sons and one daughter. The sons are John, Ralph, Grundy Center, Ed, Holland, and Andrew, Grundy Center. The one daughter, Frances, has been making her home with her mother. Mrs. Heerts' sister-in-law, Miss Wilmka Heerts, has been making her home continually with the Heerts family. There are six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
