Mrs. Heerts, 69, Dies In Holland; Rites Monday

Memorial services for Mrs. Gertie Heerts, who was born April 3, 1902, and entered into eternal rest December 17, 1971, were held in the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church, December 20, 1971. The Reverend John Entingh officiated.

Russell Kruse sang "God Will Take Care Of You" and "Rock Of Ages." He was accompanied by Mrs. Raymond Hinders, who also played selected numbers for the prelude and postlude.

The casket bearers were Arthur Meester, Wilbur Knock, Ivan Slifer, Merle Meyer, Maurell Pabst, and Wayne Eilers.

Mrs. George Heronimus and Mrs. Albert Meyer were in charge of the floral arrangements. John Paterni and Milf Meyer served as ushers.

Interment was made in the Colfax Center Cemetery, rural Holland, Iowa.

Mrs. John (Gertie) Heerts, 69, died at her home here early Friday.

She was born April 3, 1902, in Grundy County near Dike, a daughter of Aike J. and Anna Meyer Kruse. She lived near Dike, moving to Aplington for two years before moving to a farm in Colfax Township. On Jan. 5, 1927, in the Colfax Center parsonage, she married John Heerts. They lived in Grundy Center five years, then moved to Colfax Township, where they farmed until the fall of 1963, when they moved to Holland.

Survivors are her widower; a son, Dale, Grundy Center; three sisters, Mrs. Tena Knock, Wellsburg, Mrs. Marcus D. (Minnie) Meyer and Mrs. Asa (Dena) Slifer, Grundy Center; two granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by a sister and three brothers.

Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home, Grundy Center, was in charge of arrangements.
