Last Rites For Todd Graves At Colfax Church
Todd Mitchell Graves passed away at 7:43 p.m. Tuesday, November 6 at the Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo where he had been a patient for two days following an accident.
Funeral services were held at the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church, rural Holland, on Friday, November 9, at 1:30 p.m. Pastor Arthur Ames officiated.
James Kruse sang "Safe In The Arms Of Jesus" and "Jesus, I Heard You Had A Big House." He was accompanied by Mrs. Raymond Hinders. Mrs. Tom Simms played selected numbers for the prelude and postlude.
Casket bearers were David Hook, Dennis Henningsen, Kevin Venenga, John Henze, Mark Fogt, Lance Klaassen, Roger Colin and Todd Ayers.
Ushers were John Seehusen, Bernard Harms, Herman Akkerman and Marvin Werkman.
Mrs. Jake Abels, Mrs. Dwayne Sents, Mrs. Marvin Nederhoff and Mrs. Jake Hemmen were in charge of the floral arrangements.
Interment was in the Colfax Center Cemetery.
Relatives and friends were invited to return to the church following the committal services for a period of Christian fellowship and refreshments.
Todd was born August 12, 1966, at Grundy Center, the son of Laurence and Sharon Cuffel Graves. He attained the age of 18 years, two months and 24 days.
He grew up on the family farm in Colfax township, Grundy county. He was a senior in the Grundy Center high school system. He was very active in church and school affairs. He was a member of the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church, the Senior WF group, school organizations of FFA-Vo-Ag and had lettered and received several honors in baseball. He was a spotter in the press box at the Grundy Center football games and dearly loved farming.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather Cuffel.
He is survived by his parents, Laurence and Sharon Graves, RR1, Grundy Center; one brother and sister-in-law, Scott and Denise Graves of Manhattan, KS; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Vera Cuffel of Conrad; and paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Graves of Grundy Center.
A memorial fund has been established.
The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home of Grundy Center was in charge of the arrangements.
