Katie J. Giesking, 89, of Grundy Center, passed away on January 7 at the Ackley Presbyterian Village in Ackley. Funeral services will be January 10 at 11 a.m. at the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Pastor Larry C. Hoop will officiate. A memorial fund has been established.

Katie was born on December 29, 1912 in Cleves, the daughter of Martin and Anna (Miller) Geiken. She was united in marriage to Carl Giesking at the East Friesland Presbyterian Church parsonage, rural Ackley. The couple farmed in Grundy County until their retirement in 1971 when they moved to Grundy Center. Carl passed away on August 7, 1995. Katie was a member of Church, and the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed the neighborhood Bible Studies.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; her parents; a brother, Jake Geiken; and two sisters, Hilda Eckhoff and Jennie Christians.

Survivors include her children, Clarene and husband John Schipper of Ackley, Harriet Schares of Janesville, Wendell and wife Phyllis Giesking of Reinbeck, LeAnna and husband Roger Espe of Decorah and Clifford and wife Carolyn Giesking of Albion; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; a brother, Elwood and wife Tillie Muller of Ackley; and a sister, Marion Funnel of Grundy Center.
