Grace Freese Services Held

Grace Freese, 92, of Wellsburg, died Thursday, December 25, at the Presbyterian Home in Ackley of natural causes.

Funeral services were held on Monday, December 29, at the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church in rural Grundy Center at 10:30 a.m. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established.

Grace was born on February 2, 1905, the daughter of Dick and Malena Molendorp Weichers in Franklin County. On December 9, 1930, she was united in marriage to John Freese in Ackley by Reverend Sybold. They farmed near Fern until 1933, when they moved to the farm north of Colfax Center Presbyterian Church. She became a member of the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church in March of 1947. In 1966, she moved to a home in Wellsburg and later to the Friendship Manor in Wellsburg. In February of 1997, she moved to the Presbyterian Home in Ackley.

Grace is survived by her daughter, Veneda Doyen of Wellsburg; 4 step-sons, Harley and Clarence Freese of Wellsburg, Wendo Freese of Waterloo and Melvin Freese of Reinbeck; 2 brothers, Harold Weichers of Wellsburg and Dale Weichers of Loveland, Colorado; 4 sisters, Rena Huisman of Buffalo Center, Nettie Huisman of Wellsburg, Edna Kreb of Waterloo and Mildred Weichers of Wellsburg; 7 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John; 2 sons, Arnold and Kenneth Freese; 1 granddaughter, Brenda Freese; her parents; 2 sisters, Anna Rindels and Leona Hopkins; and 3 brothers, John, Conrad and Lester Weichers.

The Doyen-Abels Funeral Home, Wellsburg, was in charge of the arrangements.
