Fannie Claassen Rites At Colfax

Mrs. Fannie A. Claassen died Thursday, September 27, 1979 at 8:35 a.m. in the Parkview Nursing Home at Reinbeck. Funeral services were held Saturday morning at 11:00 o'clock in the Colfax Center Presbyterian church with Rev. Jerry VanCurler officiating.

Mrs. Tom Simms sang "Where The Roses Never Fade" and "Under His Wings." She was accompanied by Mrs. Raymond Hinders, organist. Casket bearers were Dirk Larsen, William Aswegan, Jr., John R. Claassen, Dusty Larsen, Tom Schnell, Joseph Junker and Arnold Tjepkes. Ushers were Harm G. Hook and Harry Ascher. Velma Meints and Mrs. Art Slifer were floral attendants. Interment was in the Colfax Center Church cemetery. Siebo Jansen and Koert Seehusen provided cars for the family. Relatives and friends returned to the church following the committal service for fellowship and lunch.

She was born November 14, 1897 in Colfax township, Grundy County, Iowa and attained the age of 81 years, 10 months and 13 days. She was the daughter of Andreas and Reinste Meents Andreessen. On March 25, 1921 she was united in marriage to Dick J. Claassen in Grundy Center. After their marriage they farmed near Dike, also in Lincoln and Colfax townships until her husband's retirement. They moved to Grundy Center in January 1964. Mr. Claassen died February 13, 1977. Shortly after his death Mrs. Claassen became a resident of Parkview Manor.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson, two sisters, and an infant brother and sister.

She is survived by one son Clarence of rural route 2, Grundy Center, three daughters, Mrs. Eldon (Laurayne) Meyer, Grundy Center; Mrs. Darlyne Larsen, Cedar Falls; Mrs. Kenneth (DeLoris) Eilers of Holland, one brother, Paul Andreessen, Grundy Center, 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Arrangements were made by the Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home. A memorial fund has been established.
