Freda Boldt, Age 89, Dead

Miss Freda J. Boldt, age 85, passed away at 9:15 a.m. on Thursday, June 4, 1981 at the Beverly Manor Convalescent Center in Grundy Center.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 6, 1981 at 1:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center with the Rev. Thomas P. Harp officiating. Merle Mamminga sang "How Great Thou Art" and "Beyond the Sunset" accompanied by Mrs. Larry Burkholder who played selected numbers for the prelude and postlude. Casketbearers were L. C. Pike, Ben Heronimus, Lenus Paterni, Duane Meyer, Darrell Heronimus and Jeff Hale. Ushers were Floyd Rouse and George Hauser. Mrs. Paul Slinker and Mrs. Jed Simms were in charge of the floral arrangements.

Burial was in the Colfax Center cemetery, rural Holland. Relatives and friends were invited to return to the church after the committal service for a period of Christian fellowship and refreshment.

Freda was born on November 12, 1895 in Holland, Iowa, the daughter of Berend and Peterke Peil Boldt. She attained the age of 85 years, 6 months and 22 days. She grew up in Holland and attended the Holland school through ninth grade. Shortly after she started to work at the Farmers Savings Bank in Holland. When the bank moved to Grundy, she went with the bank but still retained the bank in Holland. In Grundy Center she was vice president of the bank, and worked for the Farmers Savings Bank for over 30 years. She lived with her parents until she moved to Grundy Center. She then made her home with John and Dena Meyer along with her sister, Kathryn Boldt. Later she made her home alone until she became a resident of Beverly Manor Convalescent Center on August 6, 1979. Freda was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the ladies' circle group.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by one sister, Miss Kathryn Boldt of Beverly Manor Convalescent Center, Grundy Center, and by several nieces and nephews.
