Cathryn Boldt, Age 84, Dies
Miss Cathryn A. Boldt passed away at 6:20 a.m. Sunday, June 26 at the Beverly Manor Convalescent Center, Grundy Center.
Funeral services were held at the First Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center on June 28 at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Thomas P. Harp officiated.
Merle Mamminga sang "How Great Thou Art." He was accompanied by Mrs. Glenn R. Dieken, who also played selected numbers for the prelude and postlude.
Casket bearers were Leonard Ralston, Darrell Heronimus, Duane Meyer, Stanley Paterni, Paul Rouse and Roger Engelkes.
Paul Slinker served as usher. Mrs. Ernest Blythe and Mrs. Paul Slinker were in charge of the floral arrangements.
Interment was in the Colfax Center Cemetery, rural Holland. Relatives and friends were invited to return to the church following the committal service for a period of Christian fellowship and refreshments.
Miss Boldt was born September 27, 1898 at Holland, the daughter of Berand and Peterke Peil Boldt. She attained the age of 84 years, eight months and 29 days. She grew up in the Holland area and served as assistant Postmaster in the Holland Post Office for 11 years. She was acting Postmaster there for one year.
She then moved to Grundy Center, where she worked at various jobs and was custodian of the First Presbyterian Church for eight years before she retired. While in Grundy Center, she made her home with her brother-in-law and sister, John A. and Dena Meyer.
On February 14, 1978, she became a resident of Beverly Manor.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Gold-Crimson Circle.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and two brothers.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
A memorial fund has been established. The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home, Grundy Center, was in charge of the arrangements.
