Faye Stover, Long Time Hospital Employee, Dies

Mrs. Faye Stover, 85, died Sunday morning, December 24, 1978 at 10:49 o'clock in the Grundy County Memorial hospital.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 Tuesday at the Engelkes-Abels Funeral in Grundy Center with the Rev. John Latta, pastor of the United Methodist church, officiating. Parris Reece sang "The Old Rugged Cross" accompanied by Mrs. Dale Callaway, who also played selected prelude and postlude numbers.

Casket bearers were grandsons of Mrs. Stover, Gregory, Douglas, Paul, Michael, Ronald, and Jon Stover, Brian Jensen and Jeffrey Howard. Floral attendants were Mrs. Beverly Jesse, Mrs. Claudette Alpers, Mrs. Clarence Schultz and Mrs. George Rohwer. Burial was in the Alice church cemetery, north of Conrad.

Mrs. Stover was born March 23, 1893 in Melrose township, Grundy County, Iowa, the daughter of Ed C. and Clara Elizabeth Kline Allen. She was married to Claude E. Stover December 24, 1912 at the Alice church parsonage. After their marriage they farmed near Conrad. Mr. Stover died on October 11, 1938. She continued to live on the farm until 1948 when she moved to Grundy Center. She was a long time employee in the dietary department of the Grundy County Memorial hospital. Mrs. Stover had been a resident of the Long Term Unit of the Grundy hospital since July 1975.

She was a member of the United Methodist church, the W.S.C.S., Mid-Country Club, Jolly Dozen and a charter member of the Thursday Club.

Her survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Ernest (Maxine) Jensen of Sioux City, five sons, Merle of Iowa Falls, Gale of Mt. Auburn, Orville and Lyle of Conrad and Leo of Dallas, Texas; also one brother, Dolan Allen and two sisters, Mrs. Vallera Minnich and Mrs. Birdine Shirk all of Grundy Center, 23 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two daughters, three grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

A memorial fund has been established.
