Mrs. E. E. Schwab Passes Away
Well Known Melrose Township Woman Passed Away At Her Home Last Saturday
The past week recorded the passing of a well known Melrose township woman in the person of Mrs. E. E. Schwab. The following obituary was furnished the Republican by a close friend of the family.
Mary Elizabeth Freed was born Oct. 6, 1859, and departed this life Jan. 8, 1916.
She came with her parents from Illinois, the place of her birth to Grundy county, Iowa in 1867. Here she grew to womanhood. She was converted under the labors of Miss Clara Landis at the Alice church in 1894, and united with the church at that place. Since her conversion she has trusted in God with a determined and steadfast faith and this trust and confidence has kept her patient and cheerful amid all the trials and difficulties of this life.
In February 1904 she joined in wedlock E. E. Schwab and to him has been a most faithful companion, bearing her full share of life's burdens and pouring out from her great tender heart a profusion of sympathy love and consolation upon her companion.
While she was very much attached to home and home duties, yet she was ever mindful of her duties to others and where sympathy was needed--hers was poured out in a most humble and tender way.
The loss of the departed is mourned by the husband, 5 brothers and one sister: Albert, living in Anthony, Kan.; Samuel at Estherville, Iowa; William, George and Frank living in Grundy county, and a sister, Mrs. John Kline living at Spirit Lake, Ia.
The funeral services were held at the Alice church Monday, Jan. 10, at 2:00 p.m. conducted by Rev. Bruebaker. Music being furnished by the Alice choir. Interment in the Alice cemetery.
