Elinora B. Schachtlie, 76, of Des Moines and a former Marshall County resident, died Wednesday, April 10, at Hospice Kavanagh House, Des Moines of lung cancer.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Hamilton's Funeral Home, Des Moines. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Alice Church of God Cemetery, rural Conrad. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m.

She was born in Ames to Amos and Myrtle Elder Sherbon. She taught in Marshall County schools before retiring and moving to Des Moines in 1981. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Marshalltown and SHHH Hearing Impaired of Des Moines.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Schachtlie and Pat Ervin, both of Des Moines; four grandchildren; two brothers, Phillip Sherbon of Chariton and Daniel Sherbon of San Jose, Calif.; and two sisters, Virginia Sparrgrove of Strawberry Point and Edith Keese of Macon, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Linda Bond; a son, Robert; two infant brothers; two sisters, Florence and Carol Sherbon.
