Mrs. Rodgers Dies Tuesday
Mrs. Vernice Rodgers, 81, 203 1/2 N. 4th St., died Tuesday evening at Grundy County Memorial Hospital. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Pursel-Davis Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Robert Burkhart in charge. Burial will be in the Alice Cemetery near Conrad.
She was born July 22, 1900, in Juniata County, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Bradie and Annetta Rhine Roll. She moved to Polk County with her family in 1909, then to Grundy County in 1915.
She was graduated from Grundy Center High School and attended Normal School at Cedar Falls. She taught for several years in the rural schools of Grundy County.
She moved later to Marshalltown, where she was employed at Spurgeon's until retiring in 1968. She attended the First Methodist Church.
She was married to John C. Rodgers Oct. 23, 1926, at the Little Brown Church at Nashua. He preceded her in death, as did two brothers.
She is survived by one brother, David Kell, Conrad.
Friends may call at the Pursel-Davis Funeral Home. A memorial fund has been established.
