Carol Ralston Services Held

Carol I. Ralston passed away Friday, October 8, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home in Cedar Falls of natural causes, having attained the age of 82 years, 11 months and 15 days.

Funeral services were held Monday, October 11, at the First Baptist Church in Grundy Center at 2 p.m. with Pastor Gary W. Candlish officiating.

Pallbearers were Delbert Kell, Paul Harberts, Allen Frerichs, Ronald Bloxham, Gordon Bloxham and Roger Bockes.

Burial followed at Alice Cemetery, Grundy County.

A memorial fund has been established.

Carol Ida Ralston was born October 23, 1910, in Grundy Center, the daughter of Ira J. and Bessie (Wiley) Klinefelter. She received her education in Grundy Center, graduating from Grundy Center High School in 1927. Carol then attended Teachers College for two years, after which she taught in Grundy County Schools.

On December 24, 1935, she was united in marriage to Wayne B. Ralston at the First Baptist Church in Tama. Carol and Wayne farmed in Mitchell County for two years, then moved to Grundy County where they farmed until 1974. They moved into Grundy Center in 1974 and retired in 1975.

Carol was a member of the First Baptist Church in Grundy Center, Eastern Star and the S.K. Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne in 1987; one infant son, Gary Wayne Ralston; her parents; and one sister, Irene Massmore.

Survivors include one son, Roger Ralston and wife Jeanie of Lancaster, WI; one daughter, Marcyne and husband Don Heitman of Bossier, LA; 4 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; one brother, Leonard Klinefelter and wife Evelyn of Marshalltown; and three sisters, Hazel Kell of Conrad, Eva Phillips and husband Wendell of Wellman, Lois Brandenburg and husband Bud of Lebanon, OH.

The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home, Grundy Center, was in charge of the arrangements.
