Charles Ralston, Age 72, Dies

Charles J. Ralston, 72, died Wednesday afternoon, March 4, 1987, at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center, Marshalltown, IA, where he had been a patient for the past week. Born July 27, 1914, in Conrad, IA, he was the son of Glen A. and Bertha Leighter [sic] Ralston.

On March 4, 1949, he married Wilma Louise Broyles. Mr. Ralston was retired from Lennox Industries in Marshalltown, where he had been employed for 26 years. He resided in Marshalltown until April 1985, when he moved to the Conrad Senior Citizens Apartments, Conrad, IA.

Survivors include one son, Ronald Ralston, Carlisle, IA; two daughters, Arla Ralston, Charleston, WV, and Mary LaFrentz, Palo Alto, CA; one sister, Velda (Mrs. Ed) Watters, Birmingham, AL; one brother, Donald R. Ralston, Conrad, IA; and three grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 1985, and one brother.

His body has been donated to the University of Iowa, Iowa City, IA. Memorial services were held Friday, 1:30 p.m., March 6, 1987, at the Alice Church of God, rural Conrad, with Pastor Tom Craig officiating. Music was provided by organist, Margaret Kline, pianist, Dorothy Callaway, and soloist, Marlyne Brindle.

Burial will be at a later date. Arrangements were made by the Johnston Funeral Home, Conrad, IA.
