Laurence Kline Services Held

Laurence A. Kline, 88, of Conrad, passed away Monday, April 12, at Grandview Heights in Marshalltown.

Funeral services were held Thursday, April 15, at 10:30 a.m. at Alice Church of God in Conrad with Rev. James Snare officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers were Daniel Traeger, Levi Traeger, Tim Lehman, Lonnie Lehman, Floyd Benda and Donald G. Ralston.

Laurence was born the son of Alvin J. and Fannie A. Fink Kline on May 7, 1904, in Conrad. He attended Melrose #7 Country School and then went to Conrad High School where he graduated in 1922.

On September 28, 1922, he was united in marriage to Kathryn White in Grundy Center. She died on March 15, 1977. He was then married to Margaret E. Reinhart on February 1, 1978 at the Alice Church of God, rural route Conrad. He was employed as a farmer.

He was a member of the Alice Church of God. He served as chairman of the church council, taught Sunday School for many years, was Sunday School Superintendent, and sang in the church choir. He was also a member of the Conrad Lions Club.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathryn; his parents; and one brother, Leslie.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret; two daughters, Connie (Mrs. Dale) Miner of Marshalltown and Helene (Mrs. Charles, Jr.) Mooty of Grundy Center; a son, John A. Kline and wife Ann of Montgomery, AL; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Irene Groves of Des Moines.

The Johnston Funeral Home of Conrad was in charge of the arrangements.
