Bessie Klinefelter Funeral Services

Funeral services for Mrs. Bessie Klinefelter, 93, were held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, December 27 at the Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home. Mrs. Klinefelter died at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 24 at the Oakview Nursing Home in Conrad where she was a resident.

Officiating in the absence of Dr. Theodore Ertle was Dr. Andrew Hagen of the First Baptist Church. Mrs. Raymond Appel played "The Old Rugged Cross," "In The Garden" and other selected numbers.

Casketbearers were Michael Ralston, Roger Ralston, Delbert Kell, Alan Miller, Robert A. Taylor and James Draper. Mrs. Roger Ralston and Mrs. Dale Smith served as floral attendants.

Burial was held in the Alice Church cemetery, rural Conrad. Relatives and friends returned to the church following the committal service for a period of fellowship and refreshments.

Bessie Klinefelter was born December 27, 1885 in Felix township, Grundy county, the daughter of Henry and Ida Potter Wiley. She grew up in the Felix township are and taught school in the Conrad and Liscomb area. On December 27, 1905, she was married to Ira J. Klinefelter at the home of her parents. They farmed in Palermo township until 1938 when they retired and made their home in Grundy Center. Mr. Klinefelter died April 21, 1965. After his death, she continued to make her home alone until 1971 when she entered Beverly Manor Nursing Home. On April 28, 1972 she became a resident of Oakview Nursing Home in Conrad. She was a member of Alice Church, rural Conrad.

She is survived by one son, Leonard Klinefelter, Beaman; five daughters, Mrs. Irene Masemore of Flagler Beach, Florida; Mrs. David (Hazel) Kell of Conrad; Mrs. Wayne (Carol) Ralston of Grundy Center; Mrs. Wendell (Eva) Phillips of Wellman; and Mrs. C. E. (Lois) Brandenburg of Lebanon, Ohio; ten grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Robert Wiley of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

A memorial fund has been established.
