Al Kline Has Heart Attack; Dies In Hospital

Al Kline, who had resided in Grundy county continually the past 71 years, suffered a severe heart attack last Thursday. He was taken to the Deaconess hospital in Marshalltown where he died Saturday afternoon.

Alvin John Kline was born in LaSalle, Ill., on December 2, 1876, the son of George and Mary Bealor Kline, and departed from this life on November 7, 1953, at the age of 76 years and 11 months.

At the age of 5 he came with his parents to Iowa, the family settling in Melrose township in Grundy county. On May 26, 1898, he was united in marriage with Fanny Fink. They began housekeeping in Felix township, where they lived for 10 years, then moving to Melrose township where they lived 44 years. About two years ago, they moved to Conrad.

Mr. Kline united with the Alice Church of God at the age of 21 and has been faithful to his church these many years. Aside from his activity in the church, he was active in the community. He retired from farming a number of years ago, but has been an active agent for the Clarke HyBrid Seed Company. While his health had failed somewhat during the last several months, he carried on his work until he was hospitalized last Sunday following a stroke.

Survivors are his wife, two sons, Leslie and Lawrence, one daughter, Mrs. Irene Groves of Des Moines, seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock at the Alice Church of God with the Rev. B. T. Yeager in charge. Music was by the quartet, O. A. Stover, Dale Bockes, Jack Hughes and Ralph Phillips, accompanied by Mrs. Clark Brindle.

Casket bearers were Wm. Veld, Robert Kopsa, Robert Furland, Walter Minnich, John Bockes and George Crouse. Flower bearers were Mrs. Wilbur McWilliams, Mrs. Willard Dielschneider, Mrs. Helen Mooty and Mrs. Will Haller.
