K. J. Kleespie, Conrad Farmer, Dies Suddenly

Funeral services for Kenneth J. Kleespie, 66, retired Conrad area farmer, were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 17 at the Alice Church of God with the Rev. Roy Royster officiating.

Mr. Kleespie was found dead at his rural Conrad home on Sunday evening, August 14.

Burial was in the church cemetery.

Soloist was Parris Reece and Mrs. Laurence Kline was organist. Mrs. Harold Bristley and Mrs. Ralph Bristley were flower attendants.

Casket bearers were Bradley Hooper, George Hooper, Roger Bristley, Dale Dinnes, Orville Stover, and Homer Ross.

Committal service was conducted by Weatherman-Walter American Legion Post No. 131, of Beaman.

Johnston Funeral Home of Conrad was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Kleespie was born September 22, 1916, near Green Mountain, the son of Joseph A. and Effie L. Williams Kleespie.

He was graduated from Grundy Center High School in 1934.

He was united in marriage to Helen L. Fink on March 3, 1941, in Macon, Mo.

Kenneth served with the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater during World War II.

He farmed near Conrad from 1946 until his retirement in 1979. He attended the Alice Church of God, and was a member of Grundy County Farm Bureau.

Survivors include his wife, Helen; one daughter, Kendra S. Kleespie of Elma; and one sister, Mrs. Irma Young, Altoona.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
