Robert Katzer, 65, Died Monday

Robert Katzer, 65, died at his home in Melrose township, Rural Route 1, Grundy Center, early Monday morning, March 26 from cancer.

Memorial services were held this Thursday morning, at 10:30 in the Ivester Church of the Brethren. Burial was in the Alice cemetery. Rev. John Ditmars officiated.

He was born July 17, 1907 in Grundy county, Iowa the son of Frank and Lena Klar Katzer. He married Velma McWilliams September 7, 1939 at Conrad. They had spent all of their married life on the same farm in Melrose township.

Survivors are his wife, Velma, three sons, James of Newark, Delaware; Wayne, Rochester, Mich., and Kenneth of Hutchinson, Minn., and one daughter, Joan of Ames. Also surviving are seven brothers, Frank Jr., Conrad; Ernest, Marshalltown; George and Fred of Conrad; Raymond, Grundy Center; Charlie, Vincent, Iowa and Joe of Beaman, also one sister, Mrs. Gilbert (Ida) Clark of Dike. He was preceded in death by his parents.

The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
