Mrs. Frank Katzer, 77, Passes Away

Funeral services for Mrs. Frank (Lucy Maye) Katzer, 77, were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Alice Church of God with the Rev. Ronald Mooberry officiating, followed by burial in the Alice Cemetery.

Mrs. Katzer died Christmas morning at her home in Conrad.

Casket bearers were Lawrence Hess, Brett Katzer, Ted J. Woosley, Jr., Charles Ware, Fred McKibbin and Paul Katzer, while Patricia Hanson, Grace Olmsted and Nancy Katzer were in charge of flowers. Organist was Mrs. Dorothy Callaway.

Mrs. Katzer, a lifelong resident of Grundy county and the Conrad area, was born October 18, 1903, the daughter of Lewis R. and Alice Rauser Hess.

She was married to Frank J. Katzer, Jr. at Grundy Center on January 8, 1925.

She was a member of Conrad American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 681, Mid-Country Club, Homemakers, Alice Church of God, Alice Church WCSC-WCTU, and Thursday Club.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Russell M. Katzer, rural Conrad, and Earl D. Katzer, El Cajon, Calif.; three daughters, Cora L. Katzer of Hudson, Mrs. Donald (Martha A.) Grothe of Sylvan Lake, Mich., and Edith K. Katzer of Iowa City.

Also surviving are four brothers, Foster Hess of Irvine, Calif., Silvan Hess of Downey, Calif., Leslie Hess of Upland, Calif., and Homer Hess of Tucson, Ariz.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.

Johnston Funeral Home of Conrad was in charge of arrangements.
