Guy Fink Dies In Veterans Hospital
Guy Fink died at Hines Veterans' Hospital, Hines, Ill, last Thursday morning at the age of 74 years, 4 months and 4 days, following a cerebral hemorrhage.
Guy Wellington Fink, youngest son of Andrew and Henrietta Fink, was born on a farm 2 miles north of the Alice Church in Melrose twp., Grundy co., Iowa.
He attended rural school and enjoyed piano lessons at Grundy Center, arriving there by horse and buggy. He joined the Alice Church of God at an early age.
He married Nettie Keith on Nov. 7, 1915, and to this union was born a daughter, Marjorie.
On May 14, 1918, he was inducted into the U.S. Army at Chariton, Iowa, serving as a bugler. He received his discharge Feb. 5, 1919, by reason of demobilization.
Since this time he has lived in various places--with his daughter, relatives and friends.
Among the survivors are his daughter, Marjorie Gandy, and her husband, Joe, of Chicago; 2 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
His parents, 8 brothers and 2 sisters preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 25, 1966, at the Alice Church with Rev. H. L. Heim officiating. John Kline sang "Rock of Ages" and "The Old Rugged Cross," accompanied by Mrs. Dale Callaway.
Mrs. Dale Miner and Mrs. John Kline were flower ladies. Casketbearers were Dale Callaway, Wm. Mincks, Willard Dielschneider, Dale Bockes, Lawrence Hughes, and Jack Hughes.
Interment was in the Alice cemetery.
