Henrietta Neessen Funeral Wed. At Wellsburg Church

Funeral services for Mrs. Henrietta Neessen, 75, were held at 1:15 p.m. this Wednesday at the Doyen Funeral Home and at 1:30 p.m. at the Second Christian Reformed Church.

Rev. John Elenbaas officiated the service. Burial was in the Wellsburg Reformed church cemetery.

Special music for the service was provided by vocalists Mr. and Mrs. Leland Luwe, accompanied by Mrs. Ray Toomsen, and organist Mrs. Clarence Beecroft. Flower attendants were Mrs. John W. Ross and Mrs. Henry Kannegieter.

Serving as casket bearers were Henry Kannegieter, Ray Toomsen, H. L. Luwe, John W. Ross, E. W. Ammann and Thomas Claassen.

Mrs. Neessen passed away around 5:35 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, 1966, at the Pine Rest Christian Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan due to complications of advanced age. She had been taken to the hospital for care and treatment on December 15, 1965. She reached the age of 75 years, 11 months, and 29 days.

Mrs. Neessen was born on a farm in German township, Grundy county, Iowa, on October 9, 1890, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Deters (nee Rombartha Klugkist). She received her education in the rural school in the area. She attended Teachers College in Cedar Falls, and later taught in rural schools in this area. On October 16, 1916, she was united in marriage to Heiko C. Neessen. To this union was born a daughter, Evelyn. Following their marriage they began farming north of Wellsburg. In 1941 they retired and moved to Wellsburg. Her husband passed away on August 18, 1959.

She was a member of the Second Christian Reformed Church having joined by transfer of membership in March of 1933 from the Wellsburg Reformed Church.

Those who preceded her in death were her parents, her husband, 9 brothers and sisters; Three sisters: Martha, Mrs. Henry Schafer, Miss Alena Deters, Miss Antonette Deters, two brothers: Hemmo and Aldrich Deters, and four brothers and sisters in infancy.

She is survived by her daughter, Evelyn, a patient at Pine Rest Hospital in Grand Rapids, Mich.
