John Everts Services Held

John Everts, 71, of Wellsburg, passed away on Monday, August 18, at the Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo of natural causes.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, August 20, at 1:30 p.m. at the Wellsburg Reformed Church. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers were Harvin Meyer, Edward Harms, Grant Primus, Larry Janssen, Ray Tessau, Royce Paterni, Marvin Stahl and Boyd Meyer.

A memorial fund has been established.

John Everts was born on August 19, 1925, in Marshalltown the son of John and Anna (Schipper) Everts. On September 24, 1951, he was united in marriage with Marian Harms in the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Wellsburg. He was the Wellsburg High School Custodian for 29 years and also served as the Wellsburg Reformed Church Custodian for 40 years.

John was a member of the Wellsburg Reformed Church. He enjoyed music and especially playing his guitar and accordion.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, George; and twin sister, Anna Mae Oltman.

Survivors include his wife, Marian of Wellsburg; daughter, Sharon Smit and husband Paul of Grundy Center; son, Timothy of Wellsburg; 3 grandchildren; brother, Fred Everts of New Hartford; and sister, Alice Everts of Maple Manor in Aplington.

The Doyen-Abels Funeral Home in Wellsburg was in charge of the arrangements.
