Mrs. A. Hillygus Killed When Hit By A Car
Mrs. Allan Hillygus was hit by a car at the intersection of Primary 14 and the Albion road about six miles north of Marshalltown about 8:30 Wednesday morning. She died a short time later in a Marshalltown hospital.
According to reports received here, Mrs. Hillygus and some other ladies were driving towards Marshalltown. The car had a flat tire as they approached the Primary intersection. Mrs. Hillygus had started to walk to a farm house for help when she was struck by a car on Primary 14. The driver of the car was unable to see her before the woman was struck and tossed into the air.
Mrs. Hillygus was 37 years old. She and her family lived in Grundy county several years. A year ago they rented a farm near Albion and they have been living there. She is survived by her husband, a daughter 13 and a son 10.
Mrs. Hillygus' maiden name was Flora Jurgena. She lived at Aplington before her marriage. She and Allan Hillygus were married December 2, 1937.
Harold Engelkes was called and he went to Marshalltown and brought the body to the Engelkes funeral home in Grundy Center. Funeral services will be Saturday afternoon at 1:30 in the Presbyterian church in Conrad.
