Rites Held For Allan Hillygus

Allan V. "Red" Hillygus, who operated a pump service in Conrad for the last 20 years, died Thursday night at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames, where he had been 3 1/2 weeks.

Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Conrad United Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Ronald Mooberry, Assembly of God officiating. Burial was in the Conrad Cemetery. The Johnston Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Hillygus was born at Holland March 22, 1916, son of Bert and Gertrude Poppenga Hillygus, and lived at Green Mountain before moving to Conrad 28 years ago. He and Shirley M. Green were married July 31, 1954, at Princeton, Mo.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Glenn C. Hillygus, of Conrad and Joe A. Lacina of Marshalltown; two daughters, Darlene (Mrs. George) Crowder of Des Moines and Pam (Mrs. Dennis) Niehaus of Iowa Falls; two sisters, Lizzie Peters of Dike and Clara (Mrs. Wendell) Byrnes of Grundy Center; a brother, Glenn, Ocala, Fl.; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Besides his first wife, Flora, in 1952, he was preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers.
