Rites Thursday For Stanley Okones, 45

Stanley Okones passed away at 12:45 Monday morning, February 25, 1980 at the Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo due to complications of a stroke. He had been taken to the hospital on Saturday afternoon, February 23.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, February 28, 1980 at 1:30 p.m. at the Second Christian Reformed Church. Rev. John H. Elenbaas was officiating clergyman. Monica Doyen sang two selections, and was accompanied by Mrs. LuRay Neessen as organist. Flower attendants were Mrs. Lester Huisman and Mrs. Gordon Daleske. Pallbearers were Lester Huisman, Randy Groninga, Gordon Daleske, Dave Lutterman, Toby Huisman and Edward Smith. Interment was held in Shiloh cemetery in Wellsburg.

He was born in Wellsburg on July 13, 1934, the son of Henry and Nettie (Riekena) Okones and attended the Wellsburg Community School, graduating with the class of 1952. On July 14, 1951 he was united in marriage to Billie Gene Paton. Following their marriage they lived in Wellsburg, later moving to Reinbeck. They were later divorced.

Stanley was baptized in the Second Christian Reformed Church on August 23, 1936 and made Profession of Faith on July 25, 1954. His membership was transferred to the United Methodist Church in Reinbeck on March 11, 1956.

He was employed at the Rath Packing Company in Waterloo for the past 27 years.

Preceding him in death were his father, Henry Okones, a son, Michael Lewis in 1953 and a daughter, Toni Lee in 1955.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Rhonda McKellar of Rock Springs, Wyo.; Shelly Okones of New Orleans, La.; one son, Richard Okones of Lawton, Okla.; his mother, Mrs. Nettie Okones of Wellsburg; two sisters, Mrs. Willis (Rhea) Nederhoff of Wellsburg and Mrs. Wayne (Janice) Diekman of Aplington and many other relatives and friends.

Arrangements were in charge of Doyen Funeral Home.
