Funeral Held For Mrs. Ella Miller, 89

Mrs. Ella Miller passed away at 6 o'clock Sunday evening, November 13 at the Maple Manor Nursing Home in Aplington due to complications of advanced age. She reached the age of 89 years, four months and 17 days. She had been a resident of the nursing home since November 4th.

Funeral services for Mrs. Miller were held on Wednesday, Nov. 16 at 2 p.m. at the Second Christian Reformed Church. Rev. Delbert Callaway of Marshalltown officiated at the services.

Music was given by Mrs. Harold Okones and Mrs. Ivan Slifer who sang two duet numbers. Mrs. LuRay Neessen was organist.

Casketbearers were Keith DeVries, J. A. Abels, Kalvin Scholte, Scott Miller, Michael Miller, and David Miller, all grandsons of the deceased.

The interment service was held in the Shiloh Cemetery at Wellsburg.

Ella was born on a farm in German Township, northwest of Wellsburg on June 26, 1894, the daughter of Haje and Henrietta (Kurtzlaben) Kruse and received her education in the rural school in the area.

On January 29, 1914, she was married to Emil Miller. They farmed in German and Pleasant Valley Townships and in 1931 moved to an acreage in German Township. In 1856 they retired and moved to Wellsburg to make their home.

They were privileged to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary in January of 1974. Mr. Miller passed away on June 12, 1977.

Mrs. Miller became a member of the East Friesland Presbyterian Church of Ackley in 1914, and later transferring her membership to the St. Peter's United Church of Christ, rural Wellsburg. On November 1, 1957, Mr. and Mrs. Miller became members of the Second Christian Reformed Church of Wellsburg. She was a long time member of the Willing Worker's Society of the church.

Preceding her in death were: her parents; her husband; four brothers; one sister; and two grandchildren.

Those left to mourn her passing are: three daughters and two sons, Arthur H. Miller of Steamboat Rock, Leola (Mrs. Jacob) Abels of Holland, Kathryn Muriel (Mrs. Raymond) DeVries of Ackley, Donald Miller of Emily, Minnesota, Miriam Miller of Ackley; 17 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Mrs. Stena Jaspers of Steamboat Rock; one brother, Thomas H. Kruse of Steamboat Rock; and many other relatives and friends.

Doyen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
