Last Rites For Keith Davis Held On Friday

Funeral services for Keith Davis were held on Friday, February 21, at 1:30 p.m. at the Wellsburg Reformed Church. Officiating at the services was Pastor Roger Huitink. Mrs. Harvin Meyer was organist. Two selections were sung by the congregation.

Mrs. Leland Heinrich and Mrs. Norman Huisman were flower attendants.

Casket bearers were Dennis L. Huisman, Leon Abels, Rodney Kolthoff, Rick Riebkes, Myles Meyer and Mike Nederhoff. Honorary casket bearers were Gary Beving, Leland Heinrich, Rick Penning, Rick Ryerson, Donna Krull, Dick Werkman, Mardelle Werkman, Greg Heikens, Steve Nielsen, and Rev. Richard Dowling. Both the casket bearers and honorary bearers are Wellsburg Fire Department members.

The interment service was held in Shiloh cemetery in Wellsburg.

Doyen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Davis passed away early Tuesday morning, February 18, at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester, MN due to a heart and lung ailment. He had been a patient at the University Hospitals in Iowa City since January 21st before being transferred to Rochester on February 14th for treatment. He reached the age of 40 years, 6 months and 6 days.

He was born Keith Wayne Davis on August 12, 1945, in Clarksville, the son of Carl and Elizabeth (Hill) Davis and received his early education in the country school in the Clarksville area. He graduated from the New Hartford high school with the Class of 1963.

On January 12, 1968, he was married to Darlene Muller at Grundy Center. Following their marriage they lived in Parkersburg for three years before moving to Wellsburg in February of 1971.

Keith was employed by H & H Implement Company in Wellsburg since December of 1970. He was a member of the Wellsburg Fire Department since November of 1972 where he was Assistant Chief from 1981 until the present and also was President. He served as President of the Grundy County Firemen's Association from July 1975 until June of 1976. He held various offices in the fire department in the past. He also was a certified EMT-A with Ambulance Rescue Unit since 1973 being a member of the original group to take the training course.

Preceding him in death were his father, Carl Davis; a sister, Glenda Davis; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

He is survived by his wife, Darlene; 2 sons and 1 daughter, Derek, Jason and Jamie, all at home; his mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Davis of Shell Rock; 2 brothers, Martin Davis of Lime Springs, Roger Davis of Gilbertville and many other relatives and friends.
