William Charles Bergman, age 88, of Dike, Iowa, was born the son of Hillard and Rena (Konken) Bergman on August 19, 1923 in rural Butler County near Parkersburg.

On February 26, 1947, William married Carrie Lorraine Rademaker at the Stout Reformed Church in Stout, Iowa. In 1958, William and Carrie moved to rural Dike and have been there since, farming and raising their family and William became “Uncle Bill” to many people.

William was a long time member of the Stout Reformed Church. He loved to sing and sang many hymns regularly at their home. He also sang in the tractor as he worked on the family farm, all the while remembering his father, mother, his brother Edward and Kendall Buskohl. He missed them and talked of them regularly with family and friends. Now, one of his wishes has come true, they are together again in Heaven.

Farming was one of his many life’s loves and he farmed his entire adult life. A few of life’s simple pleasures William enjoyed were peanut M&M’s, ice cream and Life Savers. William also loved to watch car races and sporting events on TV.

William passed away on Saturday, June 23, 2012, at Allen Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa, from natural causes. William went to his eternal home with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hillard and Rena; one brother, Edward; and Kendall Buskohl.

William is survived by his wife of 65 years, Carrie; one son, Brian of Park City, Kansas; Jan Buskohl of Cedar Falls; five grandchildren, Brianna, William and Katherine Bergman, children of Brian, Shannon Textor and Matt Buskohl, children of Kendall and Jan Buskohl, of Dike, Iowa; six great-grandchildren; one uncle, William Dreesman of Cedar Falls; and many cousins and friends.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 27, 2012, at the Reformed Church of Stout with burial in Stout Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday at Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home in Parkersburg, and will continue for one hour prior to services at the church.
