Fannie Bidine Huisman, 94, of Grundy Center, died March 31 at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care Unit in Grundy Center. Funeral services were April 2 at Reformed Church of Stout. Burial followed in the Stout Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.

Fannie was born on April 17, 1927 [sic], in Beaver Township in Grundy County, the daughter of Reint and Brechtje Memenga Kalkwarf. She received her education around Stout. On January 24, 1929, she was united in marriage to George Berends. George died in May of 1976. They were members of the Holland Christian Reformed Church. On November 5, 1981, she was united in marriage to Jerry Huisman at Jerry's home. On May 26, 1982, Jerry passed away. Fannie and Jerry would sing in local and neighboring nursing homes, and Fannie continued to sing after Jerry passed away.

She was preceded in death by her husbands; her parents, one step-granddaughter, Linda Braukman; three brothers, Charlie, Henry and Reinhard Kalkwarf, four sisters, Flora Alter, Reka Kaput, Vina Schmidt and Dena Webrand.

Survivors include her step-children, Don and wife Grace Huisman of Wellsburg, Raymond Huisman of Grundy Center, Leland and wife Carol Huisman of Parkersburg and Imogene and husband Harlan Kolthoff of Wellsburg; 11 step-grandchildren; 24 step-great-grandchildren; three step-great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
