Services Held For Jack Clark

Jack Clark, 81 of San Marcos, TX passed away December 1 at the Hospice Unit from cancer. Services and committal were held in Texas Thursday.

Jack was the son of Roy and Ruth Clark of Grundy Center. He graduated from the Grundy Center High School in 1927, and attended Coe College.

Jack was with the U.S. Naval Fleet in the Pacific during WWII for 2 1/2 years. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Medal of Honor with 3 gold stars.

At the conclusion of the war Jack and Roy Vanderwicken joined their fathers, Roy Clark and John Vanderwicken in publishing The Grundy Register. In 1961 Jack and Roy Clark sold their interest in The Grundy Register to Troy Anderson. Soon after that the Jack Clark family moved to Texas.

Jack was president of the Grundy Center Development Corporation when Plastronics, Inc. established their industry here with the grand opening in January 1961. Jack was instrumental in getting the industry to come to Grundy Center and after 30 years it is still a thriving business, known as Norwesco Inc.-Plastronics Div.

Jack is survived by his wife Marlys Miller Clark; three sons, Brian and Tony of Austin, TX and Craig of Verna, TX; also four granddaughters and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
