Rites Held For V. Syndergaard

Verta Leon Syndergaard, 85, of Dike, passed away on September 25 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Centerville of natural causes. Verta had resided at Centerville Care Center since June 12 of this year. She suffered a broken hip in January and a loss of a leg in March.

Funeral services were held on September 28 at the Fredsville Lutheran Church at 1:30 with Pastor Don Benson officiating. Pallbearers were Paul Mikles, Darrel Mikles, Clova Traxler, Jr., Doyle Mikles, Ronald Mikles, and Ronald Eddy. Burial was in the Fredsville Cemetery.

Verta was born on December 22, 1905 the daughter of Clyde and Etta (Debolt) Eddy and grew up in the Zoar vicinity near Exline, Iowa. She married Clarence J. Syndergaard in November 1942. They made their home on a farm near Dike, retiring and moving to town in 1964.

Preceding her in death was her husband Clarence on February 19, 1967; her parents; two sisters, Eva Traxler, and Mary Mikles; and one brother Chester Eddy.

She is survived by one brother Robert Eddy and his wife Berta Lee of Exline and several nieces and nephews who brought her much happiness.

Lange Service and Dike Funeral Chapel were in charge of arrangements.
