Rose Kruger Services Held
Rose Kruger, of Grundy Center, passed away Thursday, May 14, at Grundy County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care Unit of natural causes, having attained the age of 83 years, 4 months and 21 days.
Funeral services were held on Monday, May 18, at 10 a.m. at the Pleasant Valley Reformed Church of Holland. Burial was in the Church Cemetery. Pastor Gary Hegstad officiated.
Pallbearers were Gerald Kruger, Kevin Kruger, L. T. Smith, Bill Lester, Rusty Barfels and Jerry Brown.
A memorial fund has been established.
Rose was born on December 23, 1914, in rural Kesley, the daughter of John and Sarah "Ma" (Dietz) Tjebkes. She was united in marriage to Dick C. Kruger on March 29, 1938, at the Pleasant Valley Reformed Church of Holland. They were the church custodians from 1954 to 1964. During this time they also took care of the church cemetery and they continued doing this until 1985.
Rose was a member of the Pleasant Valley Reformed Church of Holland.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Delbert Dale Kruger, Jr.; 2 sisters, Ann Nute and Adeline Smith.
Survivors include her husband, Dick of Grundy Center; a son, Delbert and wife JoAnn Kruger of Armour, South Dakota; a daughter, Sandra and husband Jim Barfels of Gladbrook; 5 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 5 sisters, Henrietta and husband Prit Higby of Cedar Falls, Violet Bates of Waterloo, Emmaline Summers of Waterloo, Ruth Bahley of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Phyllis and husband Harold Kidwell of Waterloo.
Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home, Grundy Center, was in charge of the arrangements.
