Funeral Services Held Here Monday For Mrs. H. D. Peters

Services were held Monday, September 16 at the Doyen Funeral Home for Mrs. Henry D. Peters, who died Thursday evening, September 12, at a nursing home in Dallas, Texas, from a congestive heart failure.

The Rev. Gideon Wolbrink officiated at the final rites. Mr. and Mrs. Leland Luwe sang two duets accompanied by Mrs. Ray Toomsen on the piano. Pallbearers were Leonard Schmidt, Herman Snittjer, Ray Snittjer, Calvin Snittjer and Earl Cockerham. Interment was in the Wellsburg Reformed Church Cemetery.

Dena Snittjer Peters was born August 9, 1876, to Mr. and Mrs. John Snittjer on a farm in Colfax Township, Grundy County, Iowa. On July 24, 1902, she was united in marriage to Henry D. Peters in the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Drake. Mr. Peters passed away November 6, 1956 in Palo Alto, California.

During the latter years, Mrs. Peters made her home with a daughter, Mrs. Avery Curl, in Richardson, Texas. On April 18, 1963 she was taken to a nursing home in Dallas.

She is survived by a son, Chester Peters of Worthington, Minnesota; her daughter, Orva, Mrs. Avery Curl; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. C. J. Schmidt of Wellsburg; one brother, Henry Snittjer of Cedar Falls. Preceding her in death were her husband; a son, Orwell at the age of 2; two brothers, Sam Snittjer and Herman Snittjer and one sister, Mrs. Frank Bailey.
