Dick Muller Dies of Tetanus Friday in Iowa City Hospital

Ackley--Dick Muller, Osceola township farmer, died of tetanus in University Hospitals, Iowa City, Friday, September 6. He had run a sliver beneath his fingernail on Saturday, September 24, and had it removed the next day.

He became ill and was rushed to Iowa City on August 29, and there put up a courageous but losing fight for a week.

Mr. Muller was born in Wellsburg January 11, 1910, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dick Muller, Sr. He was baptized in St. Paul's Lutheran church. He attended grade school and was graduated from Wellsburg high school. On February 24, 1941, he and Mary Margaret Carson of Eldora were married in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Eldora. They first lived on the Katherine Lynch farm in Franklin county, and 14 years ago moved to the P. F. Studer farm three miles north of Ackley.

Mr. Muller was interested in community activities and had been serving as a member of the American Field Service committee.

Surviving him are his wife; two sons, Steve, a junior at Coe College and Dave, a senior in Ackley-Geneva High School; his mother Mrs. Elsie Muller of Des Moines; and two sisters, Mrs. Milo Middleton, Grundy Center and Mrs. Harry Wheatcraft, Des Moines. His father preceded him in death.

The Rev. John Heinbuch officiated at services which were held in St. John's United Church of Christ Monday at 1 p.m. Interment was in St. Mary's cemetery.
