Mrs. Sander deNeui Succumbs to Long Illness Wednesday

Mrs. Sander deNeui, nee Rena Hook, died Wednesday morning, February 20, at the Grundy County Hospital, where she had been a patient for about a week. She was 61 years old.

Prior to that Mrs. deNeui had been at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo since last September, when she underwent brain surgery.

Surviving her are her husband; a son Maynard of Fulton, Missouri; three grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Will M. Ross, Grundy Center, Mrs. Roy Huddleston, Decatur, Illinois, and Mrs. Frank Ornduff, Terre Haute, Indiana; and three brothers, Herman, Lester and Benjamin Hook of Wellsburg.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Doyen Funeral Home and later at the Second Christian Reformed Church, with the Rev. Carl Toeset conducting. Burial will be in Shiloh cemetery.

Services Held for Mrs. Sander deNeui In Wellsburg Sat.

Funeral services for Mrs. Sander de Neui, who passed away Wednesday, February 20, in the Grundy County Memorial Hospital, were held Saturday, February 23, at 1:30 p.m. at the Doyen Funeral Home and at 2 p.m. in the Second Christian Reformed Church. The Rev. Carl Toeset was the clergyman.

Mr. and Mrs. Leland Luwe sang "Beautiful Garden of Prayer," and "Beyond the Sunset", accompanied by Mrs. Ray Toomsen. Mrs. Clarence Beecroft was organist.

Mrs. Herman Hippen and Mrs. Fred Wubbens cared for the flowers. Acting as pallbearers were Paul Hook, Steven Hook, Daryl de Neui, Donald de Neui, Virgil Eberline and Verne Eberline. Interment was in Shiloh cemetery.

Regina Marie deNeui was born to Ben and Maggie Hook (nee Lutterman) on February 24, 1901 on the family farm in Shiloh township, Grundy county. She attended the rural school and later Ellsworth College in Iowa Falls. Mrs. de Neui spent many years in the teaching profession.

She was married to Sander de Neui July 3, 1922 by the Rev. C. Holtop and they resided in Wellsburg all their married life. They became the parents of one son, Maynard.

Mrs. de Neui was a charter member of the Second Christian Reformed Church of Wellsburg. On October 9, 1919, she received adult baptism on confession of faith. She remained an active member of the church all her life. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary the Amvet Auxiliary, Ladies Auxiliary of World War I Veterans a guard in the 3rd District Auxiliary and past secretary of the Grundy County Barracks 1418.

Preceding her in death were her parents and a brother, Gerald Hook.

Those left to mourn her passing are her husband, Sander; son, Maynard, of Fulton, Missouri; three grandchildren; three sisters Grace (Mrs. William Ross) of Grundy Center, Alene (Mrs. Roy Huddleston) of Decatur, Illinois and Gertrude (Mrs. Frank Ornduff) of Terre Haute, Indiana; three brothers Herman, Lester and Benjamin Hook, all of Wellsburg.
