Glenn F. Alberts, 88, of Grundy Center, formerly of Dike, died Tuesday, June 16, at Grundy County Memorial Hospital, Grundy Center. He was born May 16, 1921, in rural Grundy Center, son of Jake and Edith Johnson Alberts. He married Beryl Long. She died July 26, 1993. Mr. Alberts farmed from 1955 to 1971. He also had owned a truck line, delivering livestock; worked at Corn Country Beef in Dike, and for Stewart & King, Inc.

Survived by: a daughter, Sheri (Roger) Johnson of Cook, Neb.; and a son, Keith of Mason City.

Preceded in death by: two infant sisters; and a son, Kent.

Family Directed Memorial services: 11 a.m. Monday at Dike Methodist Church, Dike. Memorials: may be directed to the family.

Glenn F. Alberts

Glenn F. Alberts, 88, of Grundy Center passed away June 16, 2009, at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital. Glenn's memorial service was held on June 22 at the Dike Methodist Church. His burial was in Elmwood Cemetery, Dike.

Glenn was born on May 16, 1921, on a farm near Grundy Center. His parents were Jake and Edith (Johnson) Alberts. Glenn attended and graduated from Dike High School in 1938. He was a member of the Dike Methodist Church for 59 years.

Glenn and Beryl L. Long of Grundy Center were married on February 13, 1952, in Dike. They farmed southeast of Dike where they fed cattle and milked cows. In 1971, Glenn retired from farming and went to work for Corn Country Beef, Inc. and later Stewart and King, Inc.

Glenn and Beryl enjoyed many winters in Brownsville, Texas. They made many friends with other winter Texans from other states and Canada. Spring through fall kept Glenn busy with gardening, flowers and grilling. He enjoyed their very special little dachund, K.C., a little charmer.

Beryl died on July 26, 1993. About a year later, Glenn moved to Sunrise Apartments in Grundy Center.

Survivors are a son, Keith of Mason City; and a daughter, Sheri and her husband Roger Johnson of Cook, Neb.

Glenn was preceded in death by his wife, Beryl; parents, two infant sisters, and a son, Kent.
