Rites Thursday For Herman B. Harrenstein, 60

Services will be Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church for Herman B. Harrenstein, 60, who died Monday morning at the Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo of cancer.

Rev. Jerry Van Curler will officiate. Burial will be in the Colfax Center Cemetery. Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home of Grundy Center is in charge of the arrangements.

Herman Harrenstein was born June 7, 1912 on a farm in Colfax Township, Grundy county, the son of Bert and Margaret Meints Harrenstein. On April 28, 1931 on a Colfax Township farm he married Claradean Kruger. They lived in Holland several years before farming in Colfax and Pleasant Valley Townships. In 1965 they moved to Holland and he operated a portable grinder until March of 1972. He was a member of the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church and held several offices in the church.

He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Margaret Harrenstein; his wife, Claradean; one son, Daryl and one daughter, Mrs. Verne (Orene) Eberline, both of rural Wellsburg; one brother, John of Kamrar; one sister, Mrs. Charles (Ordean) Starr of Wellsburg, and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by this father.
