BERT HARRENSTEIN DIES SUDDENLY AT COLFAX TWP. FARM

Bert Harrenstein, 69 lifelong Colfax township farmer, died at 12:30 a.m. Saturday, August 20, 1960, of a heart attack at his home northeast of Wellsburg.

He had apparently been in his usual good health earlier in the evening, but became ill after retiring for bed. The entire community and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing Mr. Harrenstein are shocked by his sudden death.

Albertus (Bert) Harrenstein was born January 29, 1891, on the Harrenstein family farm in northwest Colfax township, the son of Herman and Aaltje (Ora) Van Hettinga Harrenstein.

He was united in marriage to Margaret Meints on March 20, 1912, and the couple lived on the same farm the past 48 years.

The deceased was a member of the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church, which he was serving at he time of his death as elder and benevolent fund treasurer. He also had served three years as deacon.

Mr. Harrenstein also had been Colfax township clerk for 29 years.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Herman (Claradean) of Wellsburg and John (Lauretta) of Kamrar; one daughter, Ordean, Mrs. Charles Starr, of Wellsburg; one brother, Claus, of Wellsburg; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Preceding him in death were his parents, four brothers, Ben, Omke, Herman, Albertus and two sisters, Jennie, Mrs. Jacob Rindels and Annie, Mrs. Henry Gronewold.
