Mrs. Henry Raske Dies Suddenly

Mrs. Henry Raske died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Rudolph Hook, at about eleven o'clock last Saturday night. She suffered a stroke of paralysis early in the evening and did not regain consciousness before the end came. The stroke came upon her while she was sitting in a rocking chair in her own home, which was in a small house at the Hook farm. It had been Mrs. Raske's custom to remain in this home during the daytime and to spend night in the home of her daughter. When the mother did not arrive at the home of the daughter at the usual time during the evening the family went to look for her and found her seated in her chair as if she were asleep.

Mrs. Raske was 86 years old last April. She was born in Ostfriesland, Germany, and she came to this county with her husband and a number of the children 21 years ago. Her husband died ten years ago. Since that time her children have been looking after her.

Mrs. Raske is survived by four sons and two daughters. The sons are Hans, living at Highmore, South Dakota; Jurgen, Renville, Minn.; John, of Beaver township; and Henry, from Biscay, Minn. The two daughters are Mrs. Hans Miller and Mrs. Rudolph Hook, of Colfax township. There are thirty-eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Funeral services, conducted by Rev. J. E. Drake, were held at the Colfax township Presbyterian church Wednesday afternoon. Burial was made by the side of the husband in the cemetery adjoining the church.

Relatives from a distance who were here for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Hans Raske and daughter, Lena, from Highmore, S.D.; Mr. and Mrs. Jurgen Raske, Renville, Minn., and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Raske, from Biscay, Minn.
