Rudolph Hook, who had resided in Grundy county all of his life, died in the Grundy hospital at 2 o'clock on Christmas afternoon. He was 86 years old. He had been a patient in the hospital 19 days. Death was due to advanced age and complications. He was born on a Colfax Township farm Feb. 27, 1878, and he grew up there.

The body was taken to the Engelkes funeral home where arrangements were made. Because funeral director Harold Engelkes is a patient in the hospital, arrangements for the funeral were made by Harold's brother John, funeral director at Parkersburg, assisted by David Abels.

There was a short service at the funeral home at 1:30 on Tuesday and at 2:30 at the Colfax Presbyterian church with Rev. Gene Straatmeyer officiating. Burial was in the Colfax church cemetery.

Mr. and Mrs. Hook were with their daughter, Mrs. Luverne Murray, and family at Kenosha, Wisconsin, for 4 months prior to the death of Mrs. Hook in August 1964. Following the death of his wife, Mr. Hook went to live with his son Harm and his wife, who reside on a farm northwest of Grundy Center.

Rudolph Hook and Weja Raske were married June 2, 1909. They began life together on a Colfax township farm. They continued to live there until 16 years ago, when they moved to Grundy Center.

Surviving are 2 sons and 2 daughters. The sons are Harm R. Hook, Grundy Center, and Harry Hook, Albuquerque, New Mexico. The daughters are Mrs. Luverne Murray, Kenosha, Wis., and Mrs. Charles MacArthur, Wood Dale, Ill. There are 5 surviving grandchildren and one brother, Lupke Hook, Grundy Center.
