Ronald D. Taffinder, 58, of Seabrook, Texas, died of cancer June 7 at the M. B. Anderson Medical Center in Houston, Texas.
Ronald was born August 29, 1934 in Wellsburg, the son of David and Minnie Taffinder. He graduated from the Wellsburg High School in 1952. After graduation he went to Alaska with his friend Stan Okones and was employed by the Uni Royal Tire Company.
On December, 26, 1954, he was united in marriage to JoAnn Myers of Fairbanks, Alaska. Ron was transferred by Uni Royal to the states of Washington, Oregon, California and finally Texas where he spent the rest of his life.
In 1983, he established Ron's Yacht Brokerage in Seabrook, Texas, and was known as a very honest salesman. Ron always enjoyed his sales experience and loved dealing with people. He was very involved in his community and inspired the creation of the Seabrook Rotary Club. Ron enjoyed his family, nature, traveling and boating.
He is survived by his mother, Minnie Taffinder Harlan; one daughter, Terri Taffinder Pitts of Webster, TX; one son, David Taffinder of Houston, TX; and one sister, Rita Wray Brown of Arlington, VA.
He was preceded in death by his father David Taffinder; two step-fathers, Harry Taffinder and Earl Harlan; and his maternal grandparents, Siebe and Nantje Meyer.
Memorial services were held Saturday, June 26, at 10:30 a.m. at the Second Christian Reformed Church. Karen Meyer was organist. Mark Dunlap was soloist. Two duet numbers were sung by Rhonda Deters and Marvin Nederhoff. Pastor Ron Fisher gave the message. A hymn was sung by those present.
Ushers were Ivan Slifer, Lawrence Lutterman and Red Doyen. Mary Hippen, Peg Huisman and Arlene Hoodjer were on the flower committee.
The intermant service was held at the Steamboat Rock Cemetery. Doyen-Abels Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
