Alice Albers, 86, of Wellsburg, passed away of natural causes Sunday, October 27, 1996 at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 30 at the Faith Presbyterian Church in Ackley with Pastor Tim Diehl officiating. Pallbearers were: James Albers, Michael Albers, Bernard Franken, Tim Mortensen, Randal Maifeld, and Harold Ehmen. Burial followed in the Shiloh Cemetery in Wellsburg.

Alice Albers was born February 14, 1910, the daughter of Ben and Hillena (Gerdes) Franken in Ostfriesland, Germany. Alice grew up and was educated in Germany.

In 1924, Alice and her family moved to the United States and settled near Kamrar. She worked for Mr. and Mrs. Max Hemmingway of Webster city for two years. On February 8, 1932, she was united in marriage to Fritz Albers on her parents farm near Parkersburg. They farmed near Dike for one year, six years near Allison and in 1940 moved to Wellsburg to farm. In 1961, they retired and moved into Wellsburg.

Alice was a member of the Faith Presbyterian Church, WIC and Bible Study.

Katherine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Fritz in May of 1988; three sisters and two brothers.

Survivors include her three sons, Donald and his wife Connie of Houston, TX, Alfred and his wife Sue of Wellsburg, and Robert and his wife Jeanine of Austin, TX; her daughter Elaine Maifeld and her husband Russell of Galesburg, IL; her sister Helen Vesser and her husband Joe of California; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Memorials are to be directed to the Faith Presbyterian Church in Ackley. Doyen-Abels Funeral Home in Wellsburg was in charge of arrangements.
