Sally Huisman, 74, of Wellsburg, died Wednesday, August 30, 1995 at the North Iowa Mercy Health Center in Mason City of natural causes.

Sally was born on May 6, 1921 the daughter of John and Nancy Kimbrell Bush near Gruver, Iowa. She attended and graduated from Gruver High School, went on to graduate from Estherville Junior College, and had attended classes at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Sally taught two years at Gillett Grove and had also taught in Wellsburg in the fifth through eighth grades and also Kindergarten. She also served as the girls basketball coach, and was the chaperon of the 1949 Wellsburg girls state basketball championship team.

On October 1, 1945 she was united in marriage to Lester "Speck" Huisman at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. From that union two children were born, Michael John and Peggy Jane.

Sally enjoyed the outdoors, especially working in her garden and feeding the birds. She always had corn out for her squirrels sometimes hand feeding them Oreos. Sally was an excellent cook and enjoyed having people to cook for. She enjoyed sports also, especially watching the Bulls and Cubs. She was very concerned about others and was always willing to lend a helping hand.

Sally is survived by one daughter, Peggy Huisman of Rockford, and one brother, Lawrence Bush of Corpus Christi, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester "Speck" and her son, Michael John. Both on November 4, 1982 in a gas line explosion near Hudson, Iowa. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Lester and Marcus Bush.
