Louise S. Claassen, 88, Wellsburg, Iowa, died Monday June 18, 2001, at Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer, Iowa, from natural causes.

Louise was born December 7, 1912, in Steamboat Rock, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Sarah (Lamprecht) Eilers. She attended Steamboat Rock High School and graduated from there in 1921. Louise was united in marriage to Thomas Claassen on March 28, 1941, at the parsonage of First Baptist Church in Steamboat Rock.

Louise spent her married life in Wellsburg, Iowa, and resided at Sunrise Hill Care Center for the past four years. She was an Avon representative in Wellsburg for many years. Louise was a long-time member of Second Christian Reformed church in Wellsburg, and a member of the Helping Hands Society of the church. Louise loved to cook and clean. She was completely devoted to taking care of her family.

Survivors include two sons: Thomas D. (Valerie) Claassen of Garwin, Iowa, Craig A. (Mitzi) Claassen of Ackley, Iowa; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and one sister; Lucille "Dolly" (Mrs. Harry) Folkerts of Steamboat Rock, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Tom, two sisters: Hannah Marie Eilers and Ruth (Eilers) Ziesman; and one brother Raymond Eilers.
