Alvin Blythe, 64, of Wellsburg passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 1998, at the Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo of natural causes.
Al was born on February 18, 1934, in Grundy County, Iowa, the son of George and Grace Blythe. He graduated from Wellsburg High School in 1952. On March 4, 1955, he was united in marriage to Donna Nederhoff in the First Christian Reformed Church parsonage in Wellsburg. He was an active member of the First Christian Reformed Church, serving on the church council. Al was also very active in his community, serving on numerous boards and activities especially on the board of director of the Friendship Manor. Al also loved people, he always had an interest in others, especially young people.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1977 and brother, Kenneth in 1991.
Survivors included his wife, Donna of Wellsburg; two sons, Dan and wife Carol of Holland, Iowa and Brent and special friend Sandy Youngblut of Waterloo; mother, Grace Blythe of Wellsburg; three brothers, Gene Blythe and wife Esther of Wellsburg, Ernest Blythe and wife Berniece of Grundy Center, and Wayne Blythe and wife Joyce of Wellsburg; sister-in-law Ann Blythe of Ormond Beach, Florida; two sisters, Mary Vry and husband Dale of Parkersburg and Ila Venenga of Ackley; two grandsons, Shane Blythe of Waterloo and Chad Blythe of Holland, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews.
